Student Packing and Storage Tips

Labels
Make sure you label every item/box you store. Your campus rep will give you labels when he/she drops off packing supplies to you.

Fridges
If you are storing a refrigerator, unplug the fridge at least 48 hours prior to storage so that the fridge can properly defrost. Tape the cord to the back of the fridge and leave the door open ajar. Fridges can get moldy and smelly if they are sealed up!

Drawers
If you are storing dressers or upright cabinets make sure you clean out each drawer before we come to collect them.

Equipment
If you are storing sports or musical equipment make sure you place your equipment in their designated bags.

Weight
Don’t over-stuff boxes. While our boxes can hold up to 60lbs in weight, we love our employees and don’t want them to suffer from back pain!

Tape
Make sure you tape your boxes well. Tape both the bottom and top of boxes. Make sure you tape well down the sides of the boxes too!

Food
Don't leave any food in boxes over the summer. Heat and humidity makes food go bad and will make everything in your box smelly!

Documents
Remember not to pack your travel documents and passport!
